About the Role

The Maintenance Planner 12-month contract role at Marvel Placement Consultant involves developing and implementing maintenance plans to ensure efficient execution of mechanical maintenance activities in a mining environment. The successful candidate will have strong analytical, organisational, and planning skills, as well as experience with CMMS/maintenance management systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed maintenance plans and schedules for all mechanical maintenance activities, including preventative, predictive, and corrective work.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams, supervisors, and production to ensure efficient execution of planned work.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and site-specific standards.
• Create and manage work orders on the CMMS, ensuring accuracy of job scopes, resources, spares, and timelines.
• Analyse equipment history and failure trends to improve maintenance planning and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Liaise with stores and procurement to ensure availability of required spares, materials, and tools prior to job execution.
• Prepare shutdown and outage schedules, ensuring optimal resource allocation and minimal production disruption.
• Monitor schedule compliance and provide feedback on planning effectiveness and areas for improvement.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation in line with operational requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
• Assist with maintenance budgeting, cost control, and resource planning.
• Promote and uphold a strong safety culture across all maintenance planning and execution activities.

Requirements

• BEng / BSc / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment
• Proven experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within a plant or mining environment
• Strong working knowledge of CMMS/maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Pragma, or similar)
• Solid understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and engineering standards
• Experience with fixed plant, processing equipment, and mobile mining equipment will be advantageous
• Strong analytical, organisational, and planning skills
• Computer literacy (MS Office, especially Excel)
