About the Role
Fokus Personnel is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team as a remote/virtual employee. As part of our client portfolio, you will provide accounting, tax, and general advisory services, ensuring exceptional service delivery and building strong relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for assigned work and be able to work independently
- Support and coach junior team members to develop themselves on a personal and technical level
- Interrogate current practices and propose enhancements to improve efficiencies with a specific focus on technology
- Identify information required and request it from clients and/or relevant sources
- Take responsibility of monthly financial accounting services
- Prepare reconciliations of financial statement line items
- Compilation of financial statements
- Propose appropriate accounting treatments in line with applicable financial reporting standards
- Provisional and income tax calculations
- Reconciliation and submission of input/output VAT
- Review of work performed by junior team members
- Ability to identify errors and propose appropriate remedies
- Adhere to deadlines in a timeous manner
Requirements
- Eligible to register as a Chartered Accountant (SA) or already registered; or Registered Professional Accountant (SA)
- BCom degree and/or equivalent accounting degree, completed SAIPA or SAICA articles; or
- Matric with Maths and Accounting as subject, completed SAIPA or SAICA articles and at least 3 years’ relevant post article experience
- Proficient in English and Afrikaans
- Familiarity with Draftworx, Xero, Dext or Hubdoc, Skytax (Accfin) & SARS E-Filing
