Job Description
Large, integrated and well-established group in the agriculture sector is looking to employ an experienced, motivated and driven Financial Accountant. This group has interests across the country, and this role will be situated in Paarl, Western Cape.
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for gathering, processing, and monitoring financial data to ensure accuracy, compliance with accounting regulations, and proper documentation of all financial transactions.
The ideal candidate must have an accounting qualification; completed articles and commerce related experience would be a definite benefit, along with knowledge of ERP systems (Navision, Business Central, or similar). Industry experience in agriculture, farming, citrus, fruit, export, or related will also be an advantage, though not a pre-requisite. Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Cash & Bank Management:
- Assist with weekly cash flow management and planning
- Daily processing and reconciliation of ZAR bank accounts (including allocations)
- Daily processing and reconciliation of foreign currency bank accounts (excluding allocations)
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date bank balances
Financial Processing & Reporting:
- Process fuel cards and company credit cards
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
- Prepare monthly journals, general ledger processing, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage intercompany invoicing and monthly intercompany reconciliations
- Prepare and submit VAT201 and IRP6 returns
Accounts & Grower Administration:
- Capture interest on grower loans
- Assist with vendor and debtor approvals
- Oversee vendor and customer reconciliations
- Assist with grower final accounts and cost variance monitoring
Banking & Payments:
- Authorise and review creditor reconciliations
- Load payments on FNB Online Banking (ZAR and foreign currency)
- Manage hedging entries and exchange rates
Systems & Controls:
- Maintain financial systems (Business Central and ProduceLinc)
- Implement and improve internal controls and processes
Qualifications and Experience:
- Accounting Degree or similar
- Professional qualification will be an advantage
- Fruit Accounting experience a definite benefit
- Agriculture or FMCG sector experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- ERP Accounting systems experience a plus, particularly Navision or Business Central.
Remuneration:
- R420,000 to R600,000 pa cost to company, depending on experience.
