About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Animal Caretaker to join our team at a game reserve based near Paterson. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and management of our animals, while also delivering educational talks and guided tours to guests and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

• Animal husbandry with a hands-off approach for rehabilitating and releasing animals
• Cleaning of enclosures, feeding equipment, and education centre
• Conducting educational talks and guided tours for guests and volunteers
• Accurately following written and verbal animal care instructions and treatment plans
• Ensuring adherence to all safety, welfare, and organisational protocols
• Demonstrating strong time management and organisational skills
• Monitoring animal behaviour and reporting concerns to senior staff or management

Requirements

• Grade 11 or 12 Diploma/short course in animal studies or related field (advantageous)
• Minimum of 1 year work experience in wildlife rehabilitation and/or husbandry
• Proficiency in English (isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans advantageous)
