About the Role
A leading manufacturing company is seeking a qualified Site Services Artisan to join their KZN Engineering Department, focusing on maintenance and optimisation of utilities across all plants with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement planned and unplanned maintenance relating to utilities (water, air, electricity) across all plants
- Collect, analyse, and report utilities data to drive improvements and cost reductions
- Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met
- Manage contractors on site and ensure compliance with relevant SHE requirements
- Carry out preventative and planned maintenance efficiently and effectively
- Complete projects and hand over to relevant teams
- Participate in the asset care strategy and ensure engineering standards are applied correctly
- Assist plants with problem-solving of operational issues related to utilities and implement corrective actions
- Support breakdown reduction by analysing root causes and implementing continuous improvement measures
- Assist services teams with startup and shutdown of equipment, including standby and callout duties
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain proper housekeeping within areas of responsibility
Requirements
- Qualified, Trade Tested Artisan – Electrician or Millwright (Wireman’s License advantageous)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a building services or utilities environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of utilities equipment: Transformers, Switchgear, Compressors, Chillers, Pumps, Solar systems
- Computer literate
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ability to assess and prioritise work effectively
- Self-motivated, energetic, composed, and able to motivate others
