About the Role
We have a opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic in Northwest Potchefstroom. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs, services and maintenance on customer sites, removing and installing components, ensuring safe work practices, and dealing with all customer machine breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs, services and maintenance on customer sites.
- Remove and install components on customer sites.
- Ensure safe work practice.
- Quickly and efficiently deal with all customer machine breakdowns.
- Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including machine inspection reports.
- Effective self-management and performance ownership.
- Work afterhours, when necessary, utilizing ordering system to ensure spares and fuel availability.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience as Mechanic General, Trade Test qualified in relevant trade (e.g., Diesel Mechanic/ Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/TMM Vehicles) post apprenticeship or learn ship experience.
- Experienced trouble shooting and problem-solving skills on earth moving machines, trucks, forklifts.
- Well imbedded machine specific technical knowledge and skills.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good technical report writing skills.
Qualifications
- Qualified section 13 diesel and or earthmoving mechanic trade test.
- MIE Verification Trade.
- Code 14 advantage in order to test vehicles.
- Auto-electrical understanding and fault-finding experience.
- Field service experience.
- Willed to work and learn on a wide range of vehicles from small plant to large earthmoving equipment.
