About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Intellectual Property Attorney to join our team in Pretoria. As a key member of our IP department, you will be responsible for conducting searches, filing, and managing trademark portfolios, assisting with patent searches, drafting, and navigating the patent application process, and providing expert advice on intellectual property transactions and litigation support.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting searches, filing, and managing trademark portfolios.
- Assisting with patent searches, drafting, and navigating the patent application process.
- Drafting licensing agreements, technology transfers, and confidentiality agreements.
- Assisting with infringement cases, oppositions, and domain name disputes.
- Advising clients on securing and enforcing intellectual property rights.
Requirements
- Education: An LLB degree is required, often with specialized courses in intellectual property law.
- Experience: 1-3 years of PQE (Post-Qualification Experience) as an associate in an IP firm or department.
- Registration: Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa is typically required.
- Specialization: Demonstrated interest in, or completion of, SAIIPL (South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law) exams is a major advantage.
