About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Sushi Chef to join our Mediterranean Restaurant team in Hazelwood. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for creating and preparing our rich sushi menu, working closely with our Head Chef to ensure exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating & preparing a rich sushi menu with various main ingredients
- Coordinate with wait staff to ensure proper cooking, considering special requests and food allergies
- Oversee and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients, including proper dating and quality assurance
- Improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
- Monitor and maintain hygiene and health and safety principles
Requirements
- Matric Culinary Diploma / Sushi Qualifications
- Preferably 2+ years previous experience in a Sushi Chef role
- Good knowledge of various sushi types and sushi-rolling techniques
- Ability to work both fast and accurately
- Leadership and management skills
- Basic computer skills (word, excel, outlook)
- Exceptional customer-service skills
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
