Job Description

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to design, scale, and secure modern cloud infrastructure powering FastAPI backends and NextJS/React frontends with reliability built in from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor engineers while aligning infrastructure strategy with business goals
  • Architect secure, scalable systems primarily in GCP, extending strategically into Azure
  • Build seamless CI/CD pipelines that empower developers to ship FastAPI and NextJS apps with confidence
  • Apply strong software architecture principles to infrastructure – delivering Reliability by Design
  • Ensure high availability across Postgres and evolving data choices

Requirements

  • Cloud expertise: experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm
  • Proficiency in Terraform and Python for FastAPI support
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and a DB-agnostic mindset across diverse schemas
  • Familiarity with Okta and Atlassian toolchain

Qualifications

  • Formal education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Relevant certifications: Cloud certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Developer) or DevOps certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer)

Salary & Benefits

Cost to company salary of R1.4m per annum, negotiable on experience and ability.
