Job Description
Duties and responsibilities
• Ensure full functionality and utilization of all machinery in and around the facility
• Execute planned; preventative; and emergency maintenance with the required urgency and precision
• Test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices
• Install electrical conduit, pull, and terminate wiring.
• Install, repair, and maintain assorted plant control and process monitoring instrumentation. This includes; electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and micro-processor-based control and monitoring systems.
• Ability to use test and calibration equipment to calibrate transmitters and control loops.
• Ability to use computer and related computer software to program controllers and analyse control loops.
• Overhaul spare/old machinery to ensure availability for the occurrence of breakdowns
• Install and maintain drive systems such as variable frequency drives and DC drives
• Assist in cost reduction with regards to replacement and/or maintenance costs related to all machines
• Perform electrical and mechanical overhauls
• Perform rewiring of electrical machinery when necessary and to effect continuous improvement
• Overhaul spare/old machinery to ensure availability for the occurrence of breakdowns
• Ensure correct and timely installation and setup of new machines
• Assist Production Team where necessary
• Assist QA Team where necessary and with audit requirements
• Perform any reasonable tasks required by Plant Engineer or Assistant Plan Engineer
Requirements
• Ability to work effectively and offer valuable contributions in a fast-paced high pressure working
• environment.
• Interact effectively with associates at all organizational levels.
• Ability to apply problem solving tools (5-Why / DMAIC’s / 4M etc.)
• Ability conduct troubleshooting and QFR
• Ability to conduct machine diagnosis and maintenance
• Good computer skills required.
• Good English communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Read and process written information with the expected degree of accuracy for the position.
• Demonstrate good organizational and time management skills.
• Take initiatives and be self-motivated.
• Electrical / Mechatronics Trade Test or Millwright Trade Test with good electrical/PLC experience
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in FMCG environment (Bakery preferred)
• Proficiency with multiple brands of automation hardware
• Knowledge of safe working procedures in an FMCG facility
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
• Ability to work in a plant environment for extended periods of time
• Able to work in elevated temperature/high humidity, high flour dust environment
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
