About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales Representative to join our team in Pretoria. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new clients within the agricultural, seed, and crop protection sectors. Your technical expertise and excellent communication skills will enable you to build strong relationships with customers and present our services clearly to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and target new clients within the agricultural, seed, and crop protection sectors
- Build and manage strong customer relationships from initial engagement through to repeat contracts
- Present and communicate technical services clearly to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders
- Understand customer challenges and translate them into tailored service proposals
- Work closely with our internal laboratory and trial teams to ensure smooth service delivery and high client satisfaction
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and meet monthly and quarterly revenue targets
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and client sites as required
- Prepare quotes, proposals, and technical sales documentation
- Track sales activities and report performance to management
Requirements
- Proven experience in technical sales (preferably in Agri, seed, lab services, or crop protection sectors)
- Qualification or prior accreditation as a Seed Sampler would be desirable
- Experience selling services into seed companies, breeding programs, or agrochemical/biological product developers is advantageous
- Strong understanding of at least one of the following: seed testing, plant breeding, molecular biology, GLP trials, agronomy, or crop inputs
- Knowledge of GLP compliance, trial design, and regulatory requirements is advantageous
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Agriculture, Plant Science, Biological Sciences, Agronomy or similar
- Seed Sampler qualification (optional)
