Leadership: Develop and coordinate systems and standards to ensure company products and services meet the highest quality compliance and standards. Lead, develop, and maintain organisational management programmes through written communication, team briefings, and face-to-face interactions. Determine strategic direction and work priorities for continuous improvement of organisational management programmes and systems. Act as the main point of contact between the team and management, ensuring clear communication of goals and instructions. Ensure seamless integration of quality systems into day-to-day operations and long-term company objectives. Quality Assurance and Control: Manage the Quality Department to ensure sustainable quality of products and services, meeting both national and international regulations. Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant standards. Devise and establish quality procedures, standards, and specifications for all products and manufacturing processes. Inspect and audit raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to verify compliance. Investigate non-conformities and conduct root cause analysis to recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Oversee customer complaints, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure customer satisfaction. Work with R&D to develop tests and approvals for components and finished products to meet quality, operating, and customer standards Apply Lean methodologies and drive initiatives aimed at improving product quality and maximising profitability Supplier and Customer Engagement: Collaborate with procurement and suppliers (local and international) to specify, monitor, and control quality requirements for all incoming goods. Liaise with Sales and Marketing to assess and meet customer quality-related requirements through surveys and compliance measures. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain and update quality documentation, such as inspection plans, checklists, and reports. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements, and facilitate effective communication throughout the organisation. Manage quality reports, records, and documentation, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Develop and oversee the implementation of a paperless Quality Department. Process Improvement: Identify and eliminate process inefficiencies by collaborating with cross-functional teams. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing projects, to enhance product quality and reduce waste. Act as a catalyst for change by driving performance, reliability, and quality improvements across products and systems. Training and Development: Determine training needs for staff involved in quality-related processes and develop training materials for internal growth. Train employees on quality standards, tools, and methodologies to maintain high levels of compliance and efficiency. Lead and chair quality-related meetings, including QC and team briefings, to address challenges and align on objectives. General Responsibilities: Develop a weekly and monthly communication strategy to cascade quality objectives across all sites and levels of staff. Generate and participate in Small Group Activities (SGAs) for continuous improvement initiatives. Oversee the control of documents, records, and the annual departmental budget. Contribute to company goals and objectives as outlined by Top Management. Perform any additional work-related duties as assigned by management. Successfully implement and monitor 5S housekeeping standards to maintain workplace organisation and safety. Functional Skills IT skills (Microsoft, SAP etc.); Numerical and statistical ability; Excellent Technical understanding of gearboxes, electronics; Excellent understanding of Electrical and/or Electronic and/or Mechanical Engineering; Analysing information and data; Fault finding & Problemsolving (Technical and hands-on approach); Target driven; Excellent Information Sharing ability at all levels; Embracing and Driving Change; Organizational and time-management skills Degree / National Diploma in Electrical and/or Electronic and/or Mechanical Engineering; Relevant qualification in Quality Management; Qualification in Management will be a distinct advantage (EDP / MAP/ MDP). Minimum educational level NQF 7. 5 10 Years in a High-Volume Manufacturing Environment; ISO9001 Quality Management certificate; Project management; Excellent knowledge of quality tools (e.g., 8D, FMEA, SPC, CAPA); Certification in World Class Manufacturing Systems: Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, WPC etc. would be advantageous; Managing / Leading a team; SHE Management Systems Qualification would be advantageous; Computer literacy MS Office, SAP, ICDL.
