Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Technician to join our team at our Richards Bay commercial truck workshop. As a key member of our high-volume truck workshop, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing commercial trucks and heavy vehicles, while maintaining high technical standards and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on commercial trucks and heavy vehicles
- Identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on fleet vehicles
- Carry out engine, drivetrain, braking, suspension, and electrical repairs
- Attend to roadside breakdowns and field service when required
- Maintain workshop productivity and meet repair time standards
- Ensure all work is completed according to dealership and manufacturer specifications
- Maintain accurate job cards, service records, and technical reports
- Support workshop foremen and service advisors in resolving complex mechanical faults
- Maintain safe working practices and workshop housekeeping standards
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Technician Certificate (essential)
- Min 5 years exp. within a commercial truck workshop or dealership environment
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working on heavy commercial vehicles / trucks
- Exposure to leading truck / workshop brands (adv)
Qualifications
- Valid Code EC / Code 14 drivers licence (adv)
