About the Role
Hire Resolve is seeking a Senior Toolmaker with extensive plastic manufacturing experience to join their team in Johannesburg. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for making, maintaining, and repairing moulds used in plastic injection moulding. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the moulds work correctly, enabling smooth and efficient production runs.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and understand CAD/CAM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Edgecam, Mastercam).
• Diagnose and resolve mould defects, providing practical solutions.
• Assist in project planning by breaking down complex jobs into manageable tasks.
• Maintain and update records and digital systems (timesheets, inventory, mould history).
• Monitor and manage daily workflows to align with the master production schedule.
• Raise alerts when project delays or challenges occur.
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, callipers, verniers, gauges, CMMs) to ensure high standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of Toolroom machinery.
• Dismantle, repair, and reassemble moulds accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure work meets quality, dimensional, and functional standards.
Requirements
• Qualified Toolmaker (Trade Test certified).
• N2N6 Mechanical or Engineering certificate.
• Minimum 5 years of tooling experience, including CAD/CAM applications.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
