Job Description
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in project cost control within capital-intensive environments (mining, construction, engineering, or heavy industry).
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, earned value management (EVM), and cost reporting principles.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and project management software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
- Knowledge of contract management and procurement processes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop, monitor, and control project budgets for capital projects.
- Prepare and maintain detailed cost forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Track project expenditures against approved budgets and commitments.
- Identify cost variances, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare accurate and timely cost reports for project managers and senior leadership.
- Review contractor payment applications and validate supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, procurement policies, and governance requirements.
- Maintain cost control systems and ensure accurate data integrity.
- Support change management processes, including cost impact assessments of scope changes.
- Participate in project risk assessments and provide financial input on mitigation strategies.
- Assist with capital authorization processes and financial approvals.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, and finance departments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control procedures and reporting systems.
