About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Pricing Specialist to lead commercial pricing strategy, model governance, and product profitability for a leading short-term insurer in Sandton. This is a senior technical role with people leadership and strong business influence, requiring a highly skilled professional with extensive experience in actuarial modelling, pricing, and product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise actuarial and pricing resources.
- Translate complex actuarial outcomes into clear, business-facing insights.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance market-leading STI pricing models.
- Identify and implement data and rating factor enhancements.
- Own pricing model performance, monitoring results against experience and correcting weaknesses.
- Design and implement pricing strategies for new and existing products.
- Support innovation in product development while maintaining existing portfolios.
- Ensure robust governance across pricing development and deployment.
- Provide analytical and pricing advice to stakeholders using data-driven insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Business Sciences, or Business Mathematics.
- Qualified Actuary (FIA, FFA, or FASSA) highly advantageous.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in actuarial modelling, pricing, and product development within short-term insurance.
- 5–8 years’ management or supervisory experience desirable.
- Strong experience in commercial lines pricing.
- Advanced Excel capability.
- Proficiency in SQL, SAS, R, Python, and pricing platforms such as Earnix, AKUR8, Willis Towers Watson.
- Experience with VB scripting and large-scale data mining.
