Job Description
A well-known and respected Accounting and Consultancy company is searching for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their ranks at their offices in Somerset West.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, preferably in an accounting firm environment, and completion or partial completion of SAIPA, SAICA, or CIMA articles will be a benefit, but is not required. A candidate with the intention of a long-term commitment would be viewed favourably. Solid experience working with Xero, SimplePay, or similar programs will be an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processing of bank and other entries on behalf of clients in the relevant financial software package.
- Various reconciliations (Bank, Salaries, Loan accounts, and Creditors) within allocated due dates.
- Loading of creditor and other payments for approval/authorisation by relevant parties.
- Raising of debtor invoices where necessary.
- Allocating expenses in the correct categories.
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register and reconciling the assets to the general ledger.
- Ensure all financial expenses have the necessary supporting documentation.
- Calculation, completion, and submission of VAT201 returns. This includes preparing the reports necessary to communicate the VAT due to the relevant client.
- Filing of all supporting documents monthly.
- Generate management reports for review by the Accounting Manager.
- Preparation of a trial balance suitable for the compilation of annual financial statements, as well as work to be performed by auditors.
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll.
- Submission of EMP201 returns.
- Calculation and submission of bi-annual EMP501 returns, as well as the annual generation of IRP5 returns.
- Calculation and submission of annual COIDA returns.
- Company secretarial administration, including timely submission of annual returns and beneficial ownership disclosures for different entity types at CIPC, registration and deregistration of companies, and preparation and submission of amendments to company secretarial information with CIPC.
- This role reports to the Accounting Manager.
- Understand and adhere to all company Policies & Procedures.
- Perform any other reasonable task required by the company.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary degree/diploma/certificate in Finance/Accounting.
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience in a firm environment is preferred.
- Partial or completed SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA articles are an added benefit, but not required.
- Experience working on Xero & SimplePay would be advantageous.

Remuneration:
- R15 000 – R22 000pm d,epending on qualifications and years of experience
