About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our luxury lodge based in the Greater Kruger region. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strong financial controls across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions accurately and ensure proper financial record keeping
- Perform reconciliations including bank, supplier, and balance sheet accounts
- Manage the full accounts payable function including supplier payments and reconciliations
- Maintain and manage the fixed asset register and ensure correct asset accounting procedures
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with applicable legislation
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports and year-end financial statements
- Support internal and external audit processes and respond to audit queries
- Monitor financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies such as fixed asset policies
- Ensure all financial documentation is properly recorded, filed, and accessible for audit purposes
- Work closely with lodge operational teams to ensure accurate financial information flow
- Liaise with suppliers, auditors, and internal departments when required
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls
- Experience with accounting systems and financial software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
- Understanding of VAT regulations and financial compliance requirements
- Ability to manage financial information across multiple sites and systems
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
Qualifications
- BCom Degree or Diploma in Accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 years accounting experience in a similar role
- Experience managing full-function accounting processes
- Experience supporting audits and preparing financial documentation
