Job Description
We’re currently seeking an au pair who embodies qualities of patience, flexibility, and adaptability. The ideal candidate will be young and vibrant, able to thrive in creative activities and outdoor adventures, similar to the interests of this 17-year-old neurodivergent girl/teenager with PDA. It’s essential that the au pair shares a sense of calmness and open-mindedness, demonstrating strength without taking things personally.
Main Purpose of the job:
To be a helping hand for her unique and specific support needs, giving her the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion in neurodiversity and to be a secure, long-term source of support is of the utmost importance.
Job Objectives:
To collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support her individual needs if and when needed.
Providing companionship and emotional support for her at home.
Support and scaffolding for her regulation needs (using PDA/nervous system safety friendly accommodations).
To carry out duties such as school pick-ups, taking to extra mural activities, appointments, preparing lunch/dinner together, planning outings and activities to do together.
Supporting the understanding of her individual differences: her sensory profile, executive functioning (planning, organising etc.), and her autism and PDA accommodation support needs.
Occasional baby-sitting.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday: 13:00 17:00 or 14:00 to 18:00 depending on schooling.
Requirements
General Requirements:
A valid drivers license and reliable car Essential.
Fluent in English Essential.
Job Related work experience:
Previous experience in a role supporting neurodivergent children Essential.
Previous experience in an au pairing (or similar) role Essential.
Job Related Knowledge:
Knowledge and understanding of the unique support needs of a neurodivergent individual Essential.
Familiarity with a low arousal, child led, neuro-affirming approach Essential.
Job Related Skills:
Ability to minimise stress and anxiety for the child by utilising a low arousal approach – Essential.
Strong verbal communication skills Essential.
Organisational skills, i.e. good time management – Essential.
Relationship building skills – Essential.
Benefits
