Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

Grade 12 (Matric) essential.
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10-12 years’ experience in opencast mining, with at least 5 years in a blasting supervisory or management role.
Blasting Certificate for Surface Mines
Strong understanding of SHEQ regulations and compliance.
Proficiency in MS Office and production reporting systems.
Valid driver’s license.
The successful candidate will be required to pass a medical assessment.

GENERAL DUTIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Develop, implement, and oversee blasting plans aligned with production targets and mine design.
Manage and supervise all blasting personnel, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements regarding explosives handling and blasting operations.
Monitor and optimize blast performance, including fragmentation analysis and vibration monitoring.
Maintain accurate records of explosives usage, blast patterns, and associated documentation for audits and regulatory purposes.
Control budgets and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
Represent the company in site meetings and report progress against agreed targets.
Ensure client requirements are met within contractual obligations.
