Carbon Consultant (Farm Operations Analyst) (PTA Hybrid)IT – Analyst, Data Management
Pretoria/Centurion – Gauteng – South Africa

ENVIRONMENT:
ONBOARD farmers onto various Carbon Projects as the next Carbon Consultant (Farm Operations Analyst) wanted by a dynamic AgriTech Start-Up in Pretoria. This will initially entail a data capturing and analysis role, with the opportunity to evolve into a consultation and account management role. Applicants will require a Degree (or Non-degree qualification) in Crop Sciences, Agronomy, Agricultural Management, Animal Sciences, Plant Sciences, Soil Sciences, Micro-biology OR have a passion for Agriculture but a Non-related Degree that they find relevant for the position (e.g. BCom, BEng, etc.). Some local travelling will be required to farmers around the country, mostly focused on summer-rainfall regions within Mpumalanga, KZN, Free State, Gauteng & North West.
DUTIES:
  • Onboard farmers onto the CarbonCrop Programme.
  • Capture on-farm data, such as cropping histories, yields, fertilizer programmes, liming applications, cover cropping, etc.
  • Analyse satellite imagery to confirm on-farm practices.
  • Field mapping and review against carbon qualifying criteria.
  • Assist farmers in improving their data collection processes.
  • Assist farmers in their regenerative journey.
  • Regenerative Agriculture (RA) and carbon sequestration research.
  • Business Development by driving adoption of RA in key target areas and attending farmer days and events.
  • Calculate net emissions for farmers using CarbonCrop tools.
  • Conduct farm visits, manage trial sites and collect samples.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • A Degree (or Non-degree qualification) in Crop Sciences, Agronomy, Agricultural Management, Animal Sciences, Plant Sciences, Soil Sciences, Micro-biology OR have a passion for Agriculture but a Non-related Degree that they find relevant for the position (e.g. BCom, BEng, etc.).
  • Enjoys working with farmers/people but can also enjoy many hours behind a laptop doing intensive Agri-data work.
  • Have an interest in obtaining a broad experience and not overspecialising in one direction.
  • Has a passion for regenerative or sustainable agriculture.
  • Good attention to detail, organised in nature, can work well with a computer and am comfortable with Excel (or keen to learn more).
