Job Description
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Regional GM, the Country Manager will oversee all aspects of the company’s operations in Zimbabwe, including strategic planning, business development, financial management, and team leadership. The successful candidate will act as the key liaison between the head office and local operations, ensuring alignment with global objectives while adapting strategies to suit the local market. The position is open to expats relocating or local candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute business strategies to meet the company’s growth and profitability objectives.
- Conduct market research and identify opportunities for expansion and diversification.
- Align local operations with the broader corporate vision and global performance standards.
Business Development & Market Growth
- Drive business development initiatives to grow market share in the passenger vehicle segment.
- Build and nurture relationships with key customers, partners, and suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to inform strategic decisions.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily operations, including sales, logistics, service, and aftersales functions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local laws, and regulatory standards.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
Financial Management
- Prepare, manage, and control annual budgets in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Monitor financial performance, manage costs, and ensure profitability targets are met.
- Provide accurate financial analysis and reporting to headquarters.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team to achieve excellence.
- Conduct performance reviews, implement development plans, and build leadership capacity within the organization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer focus.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Represent the company in dealings with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Strengthen relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Promote the company’s reputation as a trusted leader in the automotive retail industry.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 5–10 years of senior management experience, ideally within the automotive retail or related industry.
- Proven record in business growth, turnaround leadership, or market expansion.
- Strong understanding of the African / Zimbabwean business environment, market trends, and cultural context.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in budgeting and performance management.
- Proficient in SAP ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- High ethical standards, strong governance awareness, and customer-focused mindset.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and capable of working under pressure to achieve results.
