About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeper to join our Rooms Division leadership team as Director of Housekeeping at The President Hotel, a 5-star plus luxury hotel perched above the Atlantic Ocean in Bantry Bay, Cape Town. As a pivotal role responsible for the full housekeeping operation across 349 rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces, this position requires a leader who thrives in large-scale environments, understands the balance between operational excellence and financial performance, and takes pride in building high-performing teams that deliver consistently exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a housekeeping strategy aligned with the hotel’s luxury vision
- Collaborate closely with the Rooms Division leadership team to ensure seamless guest experiences
- Lead and inspire a team of approximately 85 staff, including managers, supervisors and attendants
- Oversee the presentation, cleanliness and maintenance of all guest rooms, public areas and outdoor spaces
- Conduct inspections, manage guest feedback and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage laundry operations and linen cycles , ensuring quality and cost efficiency
- Prepare and manage the housekeeping budget , including payroll, supplies, laundry and capital expenditure
- Take full P&L responsibility, including managing cost per occupied room (CPOR)
- Monitor expenses, track variances and drive operational efficiencies
- Maintain and safeguard departmental assets, equipment and stock levels (PAR levels)
- Oversee preventative maintenance and asset lifecycle planning
- Drive training, succession planning and performance management across the team
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation, health & safety standards and hotel policies
- Deliver accurate financial and operational reporting and participate in audits
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ senior leadership experience in housekeeping within a luxury hotel (300 rooms)
- Proven track record in strategic planning, budget management and operational excellence
- Advanced knowledge of Opera PMS and housekeeping systems (Omni, Trac Tech or similar)
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills (advanced Excel essential)
- Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management (preferred)
