About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Head Chef to lead our culinary team in a 5-star retreat nestled in the heart of Africa. This intimate, sophisticated establishment is renowned for its world-class hospitality and bespoke guest experiences. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for translating the soul of the African bush into unforgettable culinary encounters that delight our discerning guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage menus, food preparation, and presentation to deliver exceptional dining experiences
- Lead a team of two junior chefs to ensure seamless service and maintain high standards
- Source local ingredients and develop innovative recipes that showcase African flavors
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols in the kitchen
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and staff rosters
- Collaborate with our hospitality team to create bespoke culinary experiences for our guests
Requirements
- Culinary degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in a 5-star environment
- Outstanding leadership and team management skills
- Strong attention to detail and hygiene knowledge
- Excellent creativity and ability to think outside the box
- Fully computer literate, with proficiency in placing/receiving orders, managing stock, and creating staff rosters
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts
Salary & Benefits
- R16,500 per month
- Provident fund contribution
- Annual tips, meals, and uniform provided as part of the remuneration package
- 6/2 leave cycle
