South Africa: Head Chef

We are looking for a Head Chef who can translate the soul of the African bush into unforgettable culinary experiences. This 5-star retreat is known for its intimacy, sophistication, and world-class hospitality. Accommodating a maximum of 16 guests, they pride themselves in offering bespoke, authentic guest and culinary experiences. The kitchen team consists of only 2 other chefs. Core criteria: Culinary degree or equivalent At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in a 5* environment (senior sous chefs wanting to grow, can also be considered) Outstanding leadership and team management skills Strong attention to detail Excellent hygiene and safety knowledge Exceptional creativity Fully computer literate – must be able to help with placing/receiving orders, stock takes, staff rosters, menu creation etc Expert knowledge on food trends both locally and internationally The ability to handle high-pressure environments Fluent in English, both written and verbal Candidate must be willing/able to attend a 3-day on-site interview. This is a live-in position – one room en-suite. 6/2 leave cycle. Salary: R16,5kpm. Provident fund, plus annual, tips, meals, and uniform are included in the remuneration package.
