We are seeking an experienced Hotel Financial Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in driving financial excellence across our operations. About the Role The Hotel Financial Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and providing clear insights that support sound business decisions. This position requires a strong grounding in financial accounting controls and systems, together with an in-depth understanding of accounting functions within a hotel environment. (Essential) Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable & Payable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. Supervise creditor and debtor accounts and ensure prompt follow-up on outstanding amounts. Cash Book Management: Supervise and maintain daily cash book entries, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled with bank statements. Financial Records: Record, classify, and reconcile all financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards (IFRS for SMEs). Financial Control & Balance Sheet Integrity : Monitor and maintain the integrity of all balance sheet accounts, ensuring accurate and compliant asset and liability values. Management Accounts: Prepare and review monthly management accounts and audit all balance sheet accounts. Cost Management: Analyse financial performance against budgets and identify areas for cost saving and efficiency improvement. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, manage risk assessments, and implement controls to mitigate financial risk. Financial Systems Optimization: Evaluate and implement systems and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency in reporting and management. Statutory Returns: Prepare and submit VAT, tax, and other statutory returns accurately and on time. Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with auditors, hotel management, and external stakeholders. Team Leadership: Supervise accounting staff, provide training and guidance, and encourage professional development to ensure excellence across the finance function. Qualifications & Experience Matric (Grade 12) Bachelors Degree in Finance and Accounting or equivalent (Completed) Proven hotel accounting experience – minimum 3 years in a financial role within a 4- or 5-star hotel Knowledge of Opera PMS essential and critical Strong computer literacy with advanced MS Excel skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail, accuracy, and deadline orientation What We Offer At The President Hotel, we believe that great people deserve an environment that supports their growth and recognises their contribution.
