About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Junior Chef to join our team at a scenic wilderness retreat in the Cederberg Region, Western Cape. This Junior Chef opportunity is ideal for a chef who wants to gain hands-on experience while developing their culinary career in a professional kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and kitchen service.
- Prepare ingredients and dishes according to established recipes and kitchen standards.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation.
- Assist with stock control, food storage, and kitchen organization.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Work effectively as part of the team during busy service periods.
Requirements
- Culinary qualification or relevant professional kitchen experience.
- Previous experience as a Junior Chef or Commis Chef within hospitality is advantageous.
- Passion for cooking and eagerness to learn and develop culinary skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure during busy service periods.
- Good teamwork and communication skills in a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail, food quality, and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness standards.

No formal education or certifications are required for this role.
Salary & Benefits
Salary negotiable depending on experience. Staff accommodation available on the property. Daily staff meals provided whilst on duty. Uniform costs shared 50% with the company. Free Wi-Fi available. Work cycle: 21 days on / 7 days off.
