A well-established business is looking to appoint a qualified Financial Accountant to join its Finance team.

Reporting into the Financial Manager, this role is focused on delivering accurate financial information, maintaining robust internal controls, and adding value through meaningful financial insights that support decision-making.

This is a well-rounded position offering exposure across various aspects of the finance function, including reporting, compliance, team support, and operational involvement.

This role is based in Kempton Park, Johannesburg East.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting:

• Compile monthly trial balances and management accounts
• Analyse variances and provide clear, value-adding commentary
• Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet through thorough reconciliations
• Maintain compliance with IFRS and statutory regulations
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reports

Month-End Close:

• Manage and coordinate the full month-end process
• Oversee reconciliations for debtors, creditors, bank, inventory, fixed assets, and the general ledger
• Ensure submission of trial balances and supporting schedules within set deadlines

Team Oversight & Support:

• Review work and provide guidance to finance team members
• Ensure outputs meet accuracy and compliance standards
• Support team development through mentoring, training, and process enhancements

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Assist with annual budgets and ongoing forecasts
• Conduct actual vs budget analysis
• Contribute to cost management and financial planning initiatives

Cash Flow & Banking:

• Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts
• Monitor working capital components including debtors, creditors, and inventory
• Support payment processes and banking requirements

Compliance, Tax & Audit:

• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns
• Ensure adherence to relevant legislation
• Assist with external audits and address audit queries

Governance & Process Improvement:

• Maintain and enhance financial policies and procedures
• Strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification
• Professional registration (SAIPA)
• Completed articles with subsequent commercial experience
• Exposure to manufacturing or consumer goods environments (advantageous)
• Strong experience in financial reporting and internal controls
• Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, formulas, and reporting models)
• Solid knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation
