About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Regional Chef Trainer to join our client, a leading luxury safari operator in East Africa. This is a high-impact regional leadership role requiring a seasoned culinary professional with strong training capability, refined presentation standards, and extensive experience in luxury lodge dining.
Key Responsibilities
- Elevate menu quality, presentation, bush dining, and special dietary frameworks across the region
- Embed consistency, cost awareness, and procurement alignment across the region
- Mentor and develop chefs, strengthening individual capability and building succession within the region
- Drive accountability and continuously raise the culinary benchmark across multiple lodges
- Revise and refine menus in line with approved food styling guides and recipes
- Upgrade bush banqueting, guest delight concepts, and special dietary offerings
- Train chefs on presentation, storytelling, menu costing, kitchen controls, and waste management
- Maintain and update food styling standards across all lodges
- Rotate through properties to elevate food quality, consistency, and guest experience
- Align with procurement to strengthen local sourcing and supplier development
- Host annual regional food workshops and encourage chef exchange programmes
- Monitor guest feedback relating to food and beverage and implement improvements
- Collaborate with regional training teams on culinary development initiatives
Requirements
- Higher Diploma in Culinary Arts or related field
- Minimum 10 years’ relevant culinary experience, including senior leadership exposure
- Strong background in luxury hospitality or safari lodge environments
- Proven ability to train, mentor, and uplift culinary teams
- Strong menu development, costing, and operational control knowledge
