Job Summary
We are seeking a Retail Sales Manager to lead our sales team, focusing on strategy development, team management, and achieving sales goals. The ideal candidate should have significant FMCG (Foods/Beverages) retail sales and management experience, strong customer service skills, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities. They will report to the Managing Director and must possess leadership experience, excellent communication skills, analytical abilities for data-driven decision-making, and a solid understanding of retail operations and sales techniques.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing sales strategies to meet or exceed sales goals.
Managing and motivating a team of sales staff to ensure they meet or exceed sales targets.
Analyzing sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
Maintaining a positive and productive work environment for staff.
Assisting customers with sales and answering any questions they may have.
Expanding the basket of products with key clients
Identifying product gaps and opportunities to increase sales.
Training and developing sales staff on product knowledge and sales techniques.
Building and maintaining relationships with key clients.
Collaborating with other departments to improve overall store performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience and documentation:
Sales experience in selling fresh and frozen perishable produce. Experienced in the retail industry within Africa.
Matric / High school certificate (National Senior Certificate) with Mathematics as a subject.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field would be advantageous.
Advanced Excel skills.
Police character certificate, drivers license and valid passport.
Proven sales track record.
Experience in managing a team with different cultures.
Experience in living and working outside of their home country.
Behavioral skills:
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills, along with adaptability and attention to detail, thriving in a fast-paced environment with a sales-minded, entrepreneurial spirit. Required to be quick and organized, enjoy challenges and spot opportunities. Excellent relationship-building abilities, to connect well with others and work collaboratively are critical. Creative problem solving, devising effective solutions while efficiently managing multiple responsibilities is essential. A positive mindset and constructive approach to work and leadership is required.
