About the Role
An established construction operation is seeking an experienced, hands-on Site Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality residential and commercial building projects in Malawi. The role requires a strong technical background, proven leadership on site, and the ability to manage multiple trades within structured project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Full day-to-day management of construction sites, including labour and subcontractors
- Coordination and sequencing of multiple trades across active work fronts
- Ensuring strict compliance with construction drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Monitoring progress against programme and reporting to the Project Manager
- Implementation and enforcement of health, safety, and environmental standards
- Management of materials, site logistics, and productivity
- Resolution of on-site technical and operational challenges
- Accurate site reporting, record keeping, and progress updates
Requirements
- Qualification in Construction Management, Building, or Civil Engineering
- Minimum 10 years experience managing residential and/or commercial construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors on fast-paced programmes
- Solid understanding of construction quality control and site safety standards
- Solutions-driven, disciplined, and highly organised working style
- Previous experience working in Africa or outside South Africa is a strong advantage
Qualifications
- Completed degree in Construction Management, Building, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
Salary & Benefits
Salary (Net): ZAR 40,000 – 45,000 per month (Negotiable). Initial 2-Year Contract, with renewal based on performance and project continuity. Return Flights to point of origin when on leave fully covered. Accommodation (furnished) fully provided for by company. Work permits fully arranged and funded by company.
