Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef Events to support the planning, preparation, and execution of all culinary aspects for events, conferences, and banquets at the hotel. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality food production, efficient kitchen operations, and exceptional guest experiences for all events. Critical Criteria (Requirements) Minimum 35 years experience in a Sous Chef role, preferably with a focus on events or banqueting in 4/5-star hotels or luxury resorts Proven experience in supervising kitchen teams and managing high-volume event operations Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene standards Culinary qualification or diploma advantageous Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-pressure, fast-paced environments South African citizen with a valid ID Key Competencies 🔹 Guest-Centric Culinary Excellence Ensures all event cuisine meets luxury hospitality standards 🔹 Team Leadership & Development Supervises, mentors, and motivates the kitchen brigade 🔹 Operational Precision Plans, organises, and executes event catering with accuracy and efficiency 🔹 Quality & Safety Compliance Maintains strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health standards 🔹 Collaboration & Problem Solving Works closely with events, F&B, and service teams to deliver flawless experiences Duties & Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef in planning and preparing menus for events and banquets Supervise kitchen operations during events, ensuring timely and high-quality food production Manage and coach junior kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to SOPs and culinary standards Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control across all events Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations Collaborate with Events and F&B teams to ensure smooth coordination and service flow Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and ordering of ingredients for events Support the continuous improvement of culinary techniques, workflows, and guest satisfaction Live and promote the hotels values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to Pension Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Must hold a valid South African ID Only candidates with relevant events or banqueting Sous Chef experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the companys Employment Equity Plan Join the culinary leadership team and help deliver exceptional event experiences at Cape Towns most loved hotel.
