About the Role

Safari JOBS is delighted to present a rare and career-defining opportunity for a passionate and highly skilled Head Guide or Trails Guide to join one of Africa’s most exclusive private safari properties, located within the iconic Sabi Sand Nature Reserve. This position offers the privilege of guiding within one of South Africa’s most celebrated wildlife regions, renowned globally for its exceptional Big Five encounters, thriving leopard population, and intimate off-road viewing experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, educational, enjoyable Big 5 safari experiences via safari vehicle and by leading bush walks;
  • Maintain a positive, professional guiding culture aligned with lodge values;
  • Maintain strong safety awareness and ethical wildlife viewing;
  • Uphold all reserve protocols, including sightings etiquette and off-road policies;
  • Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and environmental checks;
  • Maintain rifles, radios, safety & guiding equipment to legal and operational standards;
  • Maintain warm, attentive strong guide-guest relationships;
  • Support special occasions, private dinners, and unique guest requests;
  • Potentially accompany guests from and to the airstrip and/or to off-site activities;
  • Vehicle checks, cleanliness, and maintenance reporting;
  • Participate in reserve activities such as fence checks, road maintenance, and conservation projects;
  • Assist with basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Clear criminal record;
  • Excellent employment track record references will be verified;
  • Excellent English fluency (written & verbal);
  • PrDP;
  • FGASA Field Guide (NQF 2/4);
  • FGASA Trails / Professional Trails Guide;
  • CATHSSETA;
  • NDT;
  • First Aid;
  • PFTC / Unit standards: 117705, 119651 & 123519;
  • Vehicle guiding AND lead trails experience with high-end 5* guests in a Big 5 reserve.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in nature conservation or similar;

Salary & Benefits

A highly negotiable gross salary is offered. Work Cycle
