About the Role
Our client in the FinTech space is seeking a junior Fund Accountant to join their team in Stellenbosch, supporting the day-to-day financial management of their Trade Finance Fund. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate reporting, covenant monitoring, audit readiness, and compliance as the Fund scales across multiple mandates and counterparties.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor system outputs and transaction data
- Record and reconcile all purchase order funding and invoice factoring transactions
- Track capital deployment and repayments per transaction
- Maintain detailed ledgers by SME, obligor, and funding mandate
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition (interest, fees, administration charges)
- Monitor settlement timelines and identify exceptions
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of all Fund bank accounts
- Track funding inflows, repayments, interest receipts, and fee payments
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies timeously
Requirements
- BCom Accounting / Finance / Financial Management qualification
- 3–5 years’ experience in fund accounting, trade finance, asset-backed lending, or structured finance
- Strong reconciliation and transactional accounting experience
- Completed articles (SAICA / SAIPA / CIMA) preferred
- Experience in private credit, factoring, or working capital finance
- Exposure to multi-funder or mandate-based structures
