About the Opportunity An established, internationally connected R&D team based in Stellenbosch is seeking a Radar Algorithm Engineer to contribute to the development of innovative consumer radar products used globally. This team designs and delivers high-quality, mass-produced radar solutions across multiple industries, taking products from concept through to international market launch. The Role As a Radar Algorithm Engineer, you will contribute to the development and optimisation of radar algorithms for new products and applications. Key responsibilities include: Developing and refining radar algorithms within a MATLAB environment Building tools to visualise radar data and evaluate algorithm performance Presenting technical challenges and performance insights to the broader team Optimising algorithm logic and tuning parameters to improve performance Implementing algorithms in embedded C and C++ Applying structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and deliver reliable solutions Participating in peer reviews of software designs, algorithms, and source code Collaborating with a multidisciplinary international product team You may also: Contribute to software requirements, architecture, and detailed design Develop PC-based data capture and visualisation tools using C# or Python Implement automated optimisation techniques (e.g., genetic algorithms) Provide input into user interface decisions for radar data presentation Explore emerging radar and sensing technologies Travel to international offices (USA, Canada, Taiwan) for collaboration Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field Junior (01 years) or Intermediate (24 years) experience in radar systems, signal processing, or algorithm development Essential Skills: Strong programming ability with a focus on writing high-quality code Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for programming and data analysis Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently with general guidance Excellent collaboration and communication skills within local and international teams Self-driven with a strong willingness to learn Advantageous Experience: Knowledge of CW and FMCW radar systems Signal processing techniques (digital filters, FFTs) Algorithms such as curve fitting and Kalman filters C, C++, or C# development Embedded systems experience Version control tools (e.g., Git) Agile (Scrum) methodologies Unit testing and Test-Driven Development Exposure to machine learning or computer vision Applicants must hold a valid South African ID.
