About the Role

Oakhurst Animal Clinic is a leading veterinary practice in Swellendam committed to providing exceptional care to our animal patients. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated team, providing routine and intensive care for hospitalised animals.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing routine and intensive care for hospitalised animals
• Administering medications and fluids as prescribed
• Performing wound care
• Providing first aid and stabilisation for critically ill or injured animals
• Assisting with pain management and supervising obstetric care
• Assisting veterinarians during surgeries and providing post-operative monitoring and care
• Collecting biological samples (blood, urine, faeces, skin scrapings) for analysis
• Performing basic in-house laboratory tests and reporting findings
• Maintaining accurate medical, treatment and inventory records
• Dispensing medicines in accordance with veterinary prescriptions and legislation

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in veterinary nursing
• Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)
• Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing (BVetNurs) qualification
