About the Role
Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to oversee the security and operational management of our various sites in the Western Cape region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in port facility security, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and manage a team. As a Contract Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international regulations and standards, as well as maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage 12 employees at our Client Head Office
- Oversee operations at Client Port Offices X 3
- Plan Berth Security to prevent trespassing or stowaways
- Maintain the Facility Security Plan
- Conduct monthly meetings with MARSECO
- Communicate regularly with SAPS
- Compile reports and maintain records of all ships that berth at our allocated tanker berth
- Prepare and engage with various audit teams of TNPA, DOT, SAPS, SSA, and customs on a monthly basis
- Oversee and manage port facility security operations
- Develop contingency plans to counter security threats
- Conduct daily communication with Ship Security Officer to reduce risk and stay informed of security threats
- Assess ship risk levels and agree on appropriate security measures with the ship (may lead to signing “Declaration of Security”)
- Attend weekly/monthly client meetings
- Discuss ship access control matters with SAPS to determine status of trespasser or stowaway threats
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- PSIRA Grade A
- PFSO training is an advantage (to be facilitated by IMO registered facility when available)
- ISPS training will be attended when an IMO registered facility is made available
- Managerial experience – 6 years minimum as a salary earner (not SD6 only)
- Computer literacy
- Formal managerial training certification would be advantageous
