About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to manage and oversee the full credit control function across national retail accounts for Communicate Finance. The successful candidate will lead, mentor, and support a team of credit controllers to achieve collection targets, ensuring timely and accurate collection of outstanding debt and resolution of claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the full credit control function across national retail accounts
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of credit controllers to achieve collection targets
- Ensure timely and accurate collection of outstanding debt and resolution of claims
- Review, approve, and manage customer credit limits and ongoing risk exposure
- Oversee month-end processes including statements, reconciliations, and debt reporting
- Manage returns, shortages, pricing claims, rebates, and promotional deductions
- Liaise with key internal departments to resolve account and process discrepancies
- Drive achievement of targeted Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
- Ensure compliance with relevant credit legislation and internal controls
- Provide forecasting and reporting on cash flow, AR balances, and performance metrics
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Credit Control within FMCG or Retail environments
- Proven experience managing or supervising a credit control team
- Strong exposure to national retail chains and high-volume accounts
- Solid understanding of South African credit legislation
- Strategic thinker able to make decisions quickly in a dynamic environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong systems, SAP, and Excel capability
Qualifications
- Diploma OR Degree in Finance, Accounting OR Equivalent
- Credit Management qualification or coursework – advantageous
