About the Role
The Social Worker role at SOS Children’s Village in Cape Town Region is a critical position that requires a professional with expertise in child development, care, and protection to join our team. As a key member of our Programme Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Child Care services, providing guidance and support to our staff, and contributing to the overall well-being of our children.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Adherence to Child Admission & Departure Procedures
- Provide advice, guidance, and support to Child and Youth Care Workers on basic and developmental needs of a child
- Work closely with Child and Youth Care Workers to plan appropriate programmes for the development of each child
- Support other staff members on issues relating to Care-workers and children
- Maintain Expert Knowledge on Social Work Issues
- Build relationships with stakeholders, including parents, community leaders, and government officials
- Perform Detailed Administrative Tasks
- Safeguard and protect children, youth, adults, and assets
Requirements
- Degree in Social Sciences / Child and Youth Care work or relevant Qualification
- Registered professional in child and Youth care
- Valid SA drivers licence
- 5 years relevant operational experience, with at least 3 years in a similar environment
- Understanding of NGO operations, best practices, and market trends
- Knowledge of programmes in an NGO environment
- Knowledge of South African legislation governing NGO’s and their operations
- Good knowledge of Children’s rights
- Basic Knowledge of Fund development
Qualifications
- Degree in Business Management, Project Management or any other relevant field (advantageous)
