A major force in the South African Retail sector is searching for a Finance Operations Manager who can bring intelligence, structure, and strategic clarity into a fast-moving retail ecosystem.
Based in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, this role is built for a finance leader who understands the heartbeat of retail:
cost management, opex control, operational efficiency, and the financial viability of every store in the network.
You’ll play a key role in shaping store performance, leading high-volume budgets, interpreting trends, and supporting critical decisions that guide national retail strategy.
CIMA qualification  either completed or in final stages  is essential, as this role requires someone with advanced commercial insight, modelling capability, and strategic finance understanding.
This is not a traditional back-office finance role.
This is a front-line, commercially-charged operational finance role, where your analysis drives strategy and your decisions impact an entire retail footprint.

? Key Responsibilities:

– Lead operational finance across a large national retail network
– Oversee cost management, opex control & budget ownership
– Manage large-volume budgeting cycles across multiple divisions
– Conduct trend analysis to influence strategy and business direction
– Model store viability, profitability & ROI for existing and new stores
– Deliver strategic finance reports to senior leadership and EXCO
– Conduct financial + operational performance analysis
– Strengthen controls, processes & financial discipline across all units
– Support strategic initiatives, retail optimisation & commercial decision-making

? Job Experience & Skills Required:

– CIMA qualified or in final stages of CIMA essential
– Strong financial & operational experience within Retail or FMCG environments
– Proven experience in:
– Cost management
– Opex oversight
– Large-scale budgeting
– Business trend analysis (impacting strategy)
– Store viability modelling & profitability
– Strategic deliverables & high-level reporting
– Operational & commercial analysis
– Advanced Excel + modelling experience
– Strong communicator who can influence non-financial teams
