About the Role
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, therapists, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care in a Western Cape-based setting. As a professional nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the development of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve support plans to ensure they are accurate, individualized, and reflective of resident-centered care principles.
- Monitor the implementation of support plans.
- Handle and administer medication according to guidelines set out in the policy.
- Timeously order medication and request 6 monthly chronic scripts.
- Monitor and record side effects and adverse effects.
- Educate junior staff regarding the supervision of swallowing medication as well as potential side-effects.
- Administer medication according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
Requirements
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in a nursing role.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Registration as a professional nurse with the relevant South African authority (e.g., Health Professions Council of South Africa).
- Completion of a nursing diploma or degree from an accredited institution.
