About the Role
Communicate Finance is seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales Engineer to join our team in the Western Cape region. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, automated packing solutions, and industrial equipment, with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to apply a solution-based sales approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and engage potential customers within the fruit and vegetable industry
- Develop and execute sales plans to grow market share
- Present and demonstrate machinery capabilities and full packing line solutions
- Lead negotiations and close sales agreements and contracts
- Understand customer production requirements and technical challenges
- Compile detailed project specifications, including technical layouts, proposals, and quotations
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
- Handle customer enquiries, objections, and technical discussions professionally
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, machinery, and industry trends
- Provide market and customer feedback to support product development and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, automated packing solutions, and industrial equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of fruit and vegetable packhouse operations and workflows
- Proven ability to apply a solution-based sales approach and close deals
- Strong negotiation, reporting, and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong relationship-building and client engagement skills
- Good planning, organisation, and time management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities and prioritise effectively
- Analytical mindset with the ability to address initial technical queries
- Creative approach to tailoring solutions
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Agribusiness Management, or Sales and Marketing with strong technical aptitude.
- Understanding of packhouse operations is advantageous.
