About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Ecological Monitor to join our conservation team at a luxury lodge in Zululand. As an Ecological Monitor, you will be responsible for conducting in-field ecological and wildlife monitoring, managing volunteers and students, and assisting with data collection, camera trapping, and radio tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-field ecological and wildlife monitoring, including Big 5 and Pangolin surveys
- Manage and supervise volunteers and students as part of the conservation team
- Assist with data collection, camera trapping, and radio tracking efforts
- Provide support for conservation management and external researchers
- Maintain camp logistics, vehicles, and general operations
Requirements
- FGASA Level 1 or BSc in Conservation, Ecology, or similar qualification
- Strong knowledge of Zululand and Maputaland ecosystems
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license
- First Aid Level 1 certification
- Strong computer skills
Qualifications
- Completed degree in a relevant field (if applicable)
