Job Summary

Role Summary The purpose of this role is to support the Tax Manager in supervising tax department staff, providing guidance on tax compliance, assisting with tax research, handling tax queries, and liaising with SARS. The role includes overseeing workflow related to audits, tax returns, objections, appeals, exemption applications, and Tax Ombud complaints. The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring the dispute resolution process and ensuring timely follow-ups. Minimum Qualifications Grade 12 with Accounting Relevant tax qualification with a minimum of 5 years of experience Experience in a tax environment is essential Registered Tax Practitioner or eligible for registration Key Skills & Competencies Skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Client service and conflict resolution Leadership, delegation, and training abilities Numeracy and strong writing skills Competencies Computer literate Ability to interpret and apply relevant tax legislation Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Experience Proven experience liaising with SARS Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes Competency in interpreting tax laws System Knowledge Microsoft Office Suite GreatSoft SARS e-Filing Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act Basic understanding of LexisNexis (advantageous) Familiarity with SARS dispute resolution processes Key Responsibilities Assist in supervising tax department staff and managing workflow Support the Tax Manager and compliance officers in completing complex returns and calculations Assist with provisional tax administration and ensure deadlines are met Monitor and assist with the full dispute resolution process (objections, appeals, Tax Ombud) Respond to basic client tax queries and prepare SARS response letters Maintain updated records for refunds, payments, disputes, and tax returns Liaise with SARS on complex issues and attend appointments on behalf of directors Handle Tax Exemption applications and client banking detail updates Assist with training SAIT learners and ensuring their development Participate in monthly progress meetings with the Tax Manager Ensure compliance with company policies, SOQM, and relevant professional codes of conduct

Job Summary

Assist tax manager with the research of tax information, processing of tax queries, and liaising with SARS. To assist with the management of the flow of work and ensure quality delivery of work outputs of tax staff in relation to audits, income tax returns, provisional tax returns, Tax Ombud complaints, objections, appeals and tax exemption applications. Assist tax manager with the dispute resolution process and responsible for the follow-up of all disputes. Academic Qualifications Required: Grade 12 with accounting as a subject Tax or other relevant qualifications with a decent track record of work experience (5 years) Experience in a tax environment is essential Registered Tax Practitioner or eligibility to be registered Skills: Communication skills Interpersonal skills Client Service skills Training skills Numeric skills Leadership skills Delegation skills Conflict resolution skills Writing skills Competencies: Computer literacy Ability to interpret and apply the Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act and VAT Act for various tax related projects. Ability to work meticulously with minimum supervision Experience: Liaising with SARS (proven track record of SARS appointments) Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes Fair competency with regard to the interpretation of tax law Required Computer Packages: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook Express) GreatSoft SARS E-Filing Working knowledge of Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act Working knowledge of the SARS dispute resolution process LexisNexis (A fair understanding would be advantageous) Key Duties and Responsibilities – Key Performance Indicators: Assist in the supervision of the tax department staff Assist tax manager and compliance officers with the completion of complex Income Tax Returns Assist the tax manager with the administration of provisional tax and meeting deadlines Assist with the monitoring of the whole dispute resolution process, including drafting objections, appeals, complaints and the Tax Ombud complaints Consulting and advising clients with basic tax queries Assist with the preparation and review of complex tax calculations and returns on behalf of clients (companies and individuals) Assist the tax manager with the initial completion of SARS response letters and ensure that all deadlines are adhered to Responsible for communicating the refund list to the partners Oversee the administration of SARS-related documentation received, i.e., assessments and other SARS notifications Assist and advise compliance officers of matters relating to the completion of returns and tax administration Assisting compliance officers with GreatSoft-related problems in terms of tax Provisional tax runs monthly and SARS Provisional Tax queries Controlling Greatsoft-related problems in terms of tax Ensure the delivery of documents, returns, and payments to SARS at the end of each month Ensure that payments requested from clients are regularly followed up on Assisting tax manager to ensure that all lists are updated and followed up by compliance officers monthly and sent to each partner – refunds, payments, disputes, and tax returns Assist with resolving any disputes on assessments and accounts from SARS, relating to Income Tax Assist with Tax Exemption applications and the preparation thereof SARS liaison for the resolution of complex tax queries SARS visits for updating of banking details and taxpayer particulars and other queries. SARS appointments for all the directors Ensure that all tax queries and compliance matters for the directors of the Company are logged and the progress thereof monitored Responsible for the SAIT learners and their relevant training Monthly meetings with the tax manager to report on the progress of all tax-related matters Ensure team members meet with respective Directors on unsubmitted lists Compliance with the firm’s System of Quality Management (SOQM), policies and procedures. Compliance with the firm’s Employee Code of Conduct which consists of the firm’s HR policies, SAICA, IRBA and IESBA Codes of Conduct.

Job Summary

Short Summary of the purpose of the role: Assisting with the supervision of the tax department staff. Advise staff on tax compliance-related issues. Assist tax manager with the research of tax information, processing of tax queries, and liaising with SARS. To assist with the management of the flow of work and ensure quality delivery of work outputs of tax staff in relation to audits, income tax returns, provisional tax returns, Tax Ombud complaints, objections, appeals and tax exemption applications. Assist tax manager with the dispute resolution process and responsible for the follow-up of all disputes. Academic Qualifications Required: Grade 12 with accounting as a subject Tax or other relevant qualifications with a decent track record of work experience (5 years) Experience in a tax environment is essential Registered Tax Practitioner or eligibility to be registered Skills, Competencies and Experience: Skills Communication skills Interpersonal skills Client Service skills Training skills Numeric skills Leadership skills Delegation skills Conflict resolution skills Writing skills Competencies Computer literacy Ability to interpret and apply the Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act and VAT Act for various tax related projects. Ability to work meticulously with minimum supervision Experience Liaising with SARS (proven track record of SARS appointments) Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes Fair competency with regard to the interpretation of tax law Required Computer Packages: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook Express) GreatSoft SARS E-Filing Working knowledge of Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act Working knowledge of the SARS dispute resolution process LexisNexis (A fair understanding would be advantageous) Key Duties and Responsibilities – Key Performance Indicators: Assist in the supervision of the tax department staff Assist tax manager and compliance officers with the completion of complex Income Tax Returns Assist the tax manager with the administration of provisional tax and meeting deadlines Assist with the monitoring of the whole dispute resolution process, including drafting objections, appeals, complaints and the Tax Ombud complaints Consulting and advising clients with basic tax queries Assist with the preparation and review of complex tax calculations and returns on behalf of clients (companies and individuals) Assist the tax manager with the initial completion of SARS response letters and ensure that all deadlines are adhered to Responsible for communicating the refund list to the partners Oversee the administration of SARS-related documentation received, i.e., assessments and other SARS notifications Assist and advise compliance officers of matters relating to the completion of returns and tax administration Assisting compliance officers with GreatSoft-related problems in terms of tax Provisional tax runs monthly and SARS Provisional Tax queries Controlling Greatsoft-related problems in terms of tax Ensure the delivery of documents, returns, and payments to SARS at the end of each month Ensure that payments requested from clients are regularly followed up on Assisting tax manager to ensure that all lists are updated and followed up by compliance officers monthly and sent to each partner – refunds, payments, disputes, and tax returns Assist with resolving any disputes on assessments and accounts from SARS, relating to Income Tax Assist with Tax Exemption applications and the preparation thereof SARS liaison for the resolution of complex tax queries SARS visits for updating of banking details and taxpayer particulars and other queries. SARS appointments for all the directors Ensure that all tax queries and compliance matters for the directors of the company are logged and the progress thereof monitored Responsible for the SAIT learners and their relevant training Monthly meetings with the tax manager to report on the progress of all tax-related matters Ensure team members meet with respective Directors on unsubmitted lists Compliance with the firm’s System of Quality Management (SOQM), policies and procedures. Compliance with the firm’s Employee Code of Conduct which consists of the firm’s HR policies, SAICA, IRBA and IESBA Codes of Conduct. Work independently under the supervision of tax manager
