About the Role
The Senior Industrial Chemist – Cement Based Adhesives and Emulsions role is a key position within our organization, responsible for managing daily laboratory operations and staff to drive product development and improvement. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with industry standards, facilitating cost reduction through new product development, and collaborating with senior management to optimize production and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing daily laboratory operations and staff to strategically improve existing products and develop new products of various cement-based adhesive and emulsion products.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and facilitating cost reduction via new product development.
- Collaborating with senior management within the company to ensure optimized production and profitability.
- Investigating deviations from specifications and monitoring actions to rectify problems for compliance to agreed standards.
- Managing or supporting assigned projects.
- Providing technical support to the manufacturing plant to assure product quality.
- Publishing progress reports, trip reports and monthlies on approved projects.
- Visiting customer sites and providing technical solutions to customers.
- Initiating and attending and presenting technical presentations to customers.
- Maintaining assigned equipment in a good operating condition and providing training to employees.
Requirements
- A chemistry or polymer science or related qualification (preferred but not essential) with extensive hands-on experience working in a chemical or related laboratory.
- Previous hands-on experience having worked as a Technical Manager / Chemist within the chemical, cement-based adhesives, emulsions, waterproofing, or construction industries (preferred).
- Previous experience or knowledge of cement-based adhesives, emulsions, and waterproofing products is essential.
- Previous experience having managed a team of people within a laboratory is essential.
- Proficiency in scientific methods, critical thinking, and problem solving is required.
- Computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages is essential.
