Other duties may be assigned. Oversee and direct debt collection, cash flow management and forecasting, budgeting, audits, tax accounting, purchasing, and insurance activities for the company. Responsible for managing annual tariff increases. Manage the Financial Controller in developing procedures and computer application systems necessary to maintain accurate records and ensure adequate accounting controls. Act as custodian of the company’s funds and assets. Appraise the companys financial position and issue periodic reports on financial stability, liquidity, and growth. Analyze, consolidate, and direct all cost accounting procedures, along with other statistical and routine reporting. Oversee and manage the preparation of the companys annual financial reports for external auditors. Monitor and analyze general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the companys strategies and operations. Analyze operational issues affecting individual departments and the broader organization, determining their financial impact. Evaluate and recommend financial improvements across departments. Stay up to date with regulations and legislation affecting company finances and ensure compliance. Possess a strong knowledge of business and financial management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Ensure the company maintains sufficient insurance coverage annually for both assets and professional indemnity. Evaluate asset replacement annually for insurance purposes. Review and ensure compliance with the companys regulatory requirements.

Job Summary

The Financial Manager will be responsible for the overall control of the company’s accounting function, financial systems, reports and procedures including the recording, analysing, and reporting of costs for financial planning and decision-making purposes. In addition, hereto, it is also envisaged that such role and responsibility will entail, inter alia, the collection of cost information, maintaining of expense databases, and determining fixed and variable costs within the business including reviewing costs for any inaccuracies or significant variances to budgets and/or expectations. The FM will report to the Group General Manager of the company. Requirements: Finance degree with cost and / or management accounting as a major. More than 10 years professional experience in financial management and / or Cost Accounting / Financial controlling. Experience of working with a high number of employees in a multi-faceted business. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills high degree of personal initiative and sense of responsibility Sound knowledge and practical experience in the application of lean management principles to optimise production Ability to communicate suggested changes to current practices and procedures Experience in change management activities where you are able to translate your findings to improvements within the business environment. Proficiency in English and Afrikaans Advanced Excel skills Preferred Syspro experience and / or other accounting software experience Be able to work well individually and within a group. Responsibilities: Collate, prepare and interpret management packs for all entities within the company’s stable Assist in developing budgets, and monitor budgets against actuals, ensuring alignment with business objectives Create and maintain relationships with key service providers and contractors Actively review the monthly reconciliations including general ledger and bank reconciliations Manage and control Bill of Material Costings and Import costings Execute monthly STATS SA Reporting Oversee operations and personnel of the finance department including management of subordinates KPI’s Monitor and assist in managing group and company cash flows Responsible for monthly variance analysis and reporting, including monthly plan / actual comparison. This is to include cause analysis and derivation together with providing actionable insights to address discrepancies and ultimately improve performance. Assist in improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the business through close cooperation with production management and other departments in ensuring targets are met. Managing internal controls and putting procedures and controls in place to prevent fraud and error. Included herein would be the overseeing and maintaining of strong internal controls to protect assets and ensure data accuracy. Ensure adherence to, develop and make improvements to, internal policies. Monitoring and controlling production processes through the analysis of production data, identification of bottlenecks, and motivation of improvement measures. Analyse data trends to uncover potential financial risks or opportunities and proactively address emerging issues before they impact operations. Prepare accurate and timely benchmarking reports and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Ultimately, apply outcomes of such reports for the enhanced performance of the business. Evaluate operational costs and recommend efficiency improvements and support strategic initiatives to optimise resource allocation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability Provide clear, data-driven forecasts to aid decision-making. Support in guiding financial strategy, including risk mitigation plans and opportunity forecasting. Assist in the initiation and management of continuous improvement projects i.e. lean management to increase efficiency across the business.
