Job Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for, and required to provide effective technical support to the operations team, providing the necessary technical expertise and implementing appropriate actions to ensure efficient operation activities, whilst ensuring optimal operational plant performance and product production in accordance with set KPIs, product specification and quality conformance of the water treatment plant(s) within the area of responsibility.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Take plant operational responsibility for plant operational performance and wellbeing, whilst ensuring safe and efficient operations of the plant(s)

Providing Process, Operational and Maintenance expertise

Monitor and evaluate plant health and performance and take appropriate actions

Communicate plant health and performance and take required action, as and when required, to ensure plant functioning at optimum performance

Compile and distribute daily plant operational performance reports to internal and external stakeholder

Identify and drive optimisation and cost saving initiatives and efforts

Track chemical consumption and manage chemical stock levels
Monitor cost of treatment and optimise where possible

Identifying and implementation of Continuous Improvement Initiatives

Lead onsite implementation of process changes

Deliver on process related inputs required on projects in accordance with sound established engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements, including commissioning of new installations

Management of risks relating to protection of plant equipment

Compiling Standard Operating Procedures where required

Perform training and development of Process Controllers and Supervisors

Adhere to Incident Notification protocols and management of Incidents / NCR’s and follow-through on corrective / preventative actions

General client management and attendance of meetings

Ensure PTOs, SWPs and Task Risk Assessments are in place, communicated and conducted as per schedule/procedural requirements

Client communication, interaction and management

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

Qualifications: B.Eng or BTech in Chemical Engineering (Required)

The candidate should also have a firm grasp of especially mechanical engineering principles, as well as electrical and instrumentation exposure

3 5 years working experience in an engineering or production related field would be preferred

Computer skills: Word, Excel, data base, power point and e-mail literacy

Preferably water treatment experienced with specific experience in RO, UF, Precipitation and Clarification

The successful candidate must be a fast learner and able to work with little supervision
In possession of valid Code B drivers licence and own transport

Solution and improvement focused (initiative and motivation).
Effective time management skills with a sense of urgency.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Ability to multi- task. Working under pressure.
Proactively work within a team, with the ability to work unsupervised
