Job Description
- Oversee and record all pallet movements between suppliers, floor operations, dispatch, and customers to ensure complete traceability
- Verify that all sales and dispatch orders are correctly prepared and dispatched on the appropriate pallet types
- Maintain and reconcile pallet balances daily, ensuring alignment between physical stock and system records
- Coordinate pallet exchanges and returns with suppliers, buyers, and transporters
- Monitor adherence to pallet control procedures and enforce compliance to prevent losses and misuse
- Investigate pallet-related and stock discrepancies, losses, and irregularities, and compile detailed reports on findings
- Conduct internal investigations into misconduct relating to pallet or stock losses and recommend appropriate corrective actions
- Liaise with the sales team to ensure smooth operational flow of processes
- Ensure that all pallet records and supporting documentation (transfer notes, exchange slips, delivery notes, etc.) are completed, filed, and auditable
- Assist in maintaining housekeeping and safety standards on the trading floor
- Identify opportunities to improve pallet efficiency and minimize rental or replacement costs
- Supervise and guide floor staff as required
- Analyze, recommend, and implement processes to reduce and eliminate pallet and stock losses
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Competencies:
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
- Tertiary qualification (certificate, diploma, or degree) advantageous
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a fresh produce or market environment
- Supervisory experience in a similar operational environment beneficial
- Knowledge of order preparation, order checking, and quality control processes (essential)
- Proven ability to manage teams and maintain operational discipline
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Reliable, self-motivated, and accountable with a strong work ethic
- Own reliable transport (essential)
