PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview
Our Client is a dynamic, vibrant organisation supplying the building industry with aggregates, ready mix, and precast elements (including hollowcore slabs and stairs). They are seeking an experienced Quarry Manager to take full responsibility for the operations of both a granite open-cast mine and a sand mine.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the quarry, ensuring adherence to Health & Safety protocols
• Drive production efficiency and ensure daily targets are consistently met
• Take prompt corrective action when issues arise (e.g., plant breakdowns, fleet issues, absenteeism, incidents, technical problems, client complaints)
• Plan and coordinate drilling and blasting activities
• Ensure all machinery is well-maintained and operated in accordance with legal and safety requirements
• Oversee maintenance schedules, including effective preventative maintenance planning
• Take responsibility for the quality of material produced
• Prepare for, facilitate, and manage monthly DMRE inspections to ensure full compliance
• Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Ensure adherence to the mine’s Environmental Management Programme (EMP)
• Report incidents, assist with investigations, and ensure proper resolution
• Manage client queries and complaints, ensuring follow-up, closure, and continuous feedback

REQUIREMENTS

• Examine and Make Safe qualification
• Open Cast Blasting Ticket
• NQF5 qualification (advantageous)
• Strong management and customer service skills
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant technical, production, and planning roles
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team management skills
