South Africa: Assistant Front Office Manager

Job Description

This role is responsible and assists with overseeing the Front Office, Safari Shop, Massages and Transfers business unit. This person will relieve the Front Office Manager when she is on leave. Ideally suited to a service-driven hospitality professional ready to take on a leadership position within a dynamic lodge environment. Core Criteria: Minimum of 2 years experience in a Front Office role within a 4- or 5-star lodge environment Previous Assistant Front Office Management or supervisory experience advantageous Strong leadership presence with the ability to guide and support a front-of-house team Excellent spoken and written English communication skills High level of attention to detail with strong administrative accuracy Confident computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Ability to remain calm, positive, and solutions-focused under pressure Sound organisational and time-management skills Honest, proactive, and dependable with strong integrity Basic financial understanding and business awareness Knowledge of lodge operations, surrounding areas, and communities Working knowledge of PANstrat and andBeyond systems preferred Core Responsibilities: Support and oversee Front Office operations, including Safari Shop, Massage, and Transfer business units Step into the Front Office Manager role during periods of leave Ensure smooth and effective lodge-wide communication from a Front Office perspective Prepare, manage, and maintain daily operational daysheets and forward planning schedules Coordinate guest movements, activities, room allocations, and arrival/departure details Ensure guest preparation, confirmations, registrations, and feedback collection are completed accurately Maintain clear communication with central reservations and relevant lodge departments Assist with guest check-ins, check-outs, billing, and hosting duties as required Support airstrip operations, including flight coordination and landing fee follow-ups Assist with weekly banking, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes Monitor revenue and costs for transfers and massage departments, ensuring profitability Support staff roster planning, leave scheduling, and team training initiatives Allocate and manage guest transfers, including outsourced services when required Maintain accurate records for vehicles, permits, licenses, and logbooks Investigate discrepancies, losses, or guest feedback concerns and escalate appropriately This is a live-in position.

NOW HIRING: ASSISTANT FRONT OFFICE MANAGER Location: Timbavati A luxury lodge in Timbavati is seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Front Office Manager to support and oversee Front Office operations, Safari Shop, Massages, and Transfers. This role will also relieve the Front Office Manager during leave periods and play a key leadership role within the lodge. Key Responsibilities ✔ Front Office & lodge communication coordination ✔ Guest preparation, confirmations, check-ins & check-outs ✔ Managing day sheets, room allocations & occupancy forecasts ✔ Liaising with internal departments and airstrip operations ✔ Overseeing transfers, massage & safari shop operations ✔ Staff rostering, training & leave planning ✔ Financial support: banking, reports, revenue & cost analysis ✔ Ensuring accurate records, reports & guest feedback follow-up ⭐ Skills Required Excellent communication & leadership skills Strong organisational & decision-making ability High attention to detail & accuracy Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude Excellent English (spoken & written) Strong computer skills (Word, Outlook & Excel) Honest, proactive, and team-oriented Knowledge & Experience Hospitality & luxury lodge environment PANstrat knowledge advantageous Minimum 2 years Front Office experience 45-star lodge experience essential Assistant Front Office Management experience advantageous Apply now:
