About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen at a stunning luxury river lodge in Hoedspruit. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, hands-on culinary leader who thrives in a high-end hospitality environment and loves delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Full day-to-day management of kitchen operations alongside the Executive Chef
- Overseeing food preparation, presentation and final dish quality checks
- Managing inventory, procurement, stock takes and invoice capturing
- Ensuring health and safety standards, cleanliness and kitchen discipline
- Supervising chefs, scullery and cleaning programmes
- Managing rosters, maintenance prevention and equipment care
- Handling guest feedback, dietary requirements and special requests
- Ensuring smooth execution of A la carte, buffet and outdoor dining experiences
Requirements
- Minimum 4 to 5 years experience in a similar Head Chef role
- Strong background in A la carte service for up to 170 pax, including buffets and outdoor functions
- Proven experience running multiple kitchen venues
- Confident in administration, stock control and reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of culinary experience (no formal education mentioned)
